The Shadow is the realm of the unconscious into which we put what we repress and deny, what we disown and can’t acknowledge. The Shadow is ‘born’ to the family we are born into and into the culture(s) we are brought up in.
Shadow Constellations combine the healing potential of both Family Constellations and Shadow Work, connecting Intergenerational Healing with Self-Parts Integration in novel ways.
This training module is for therapists, facilitators, teachers, practitioners and other professionals who work with people.
We will focus on experiential learning, giving you personal embodied experience of the work, in addition to the theory and the practice.
* You do not need to have experience or training in Shadow work and/or Family Constellations. All relevant instruction will be given.
You do need some training in therapy/coaching/facilitation and professional experience in working with people.

In the Shadow Constellations Training Module, we will:
- Get in touch with meaningful Shadows and reintegrate them
- Expand the range of issues and clients we can work with
- Learn how to identify our Shadows and the Shadows of our clients

- Experience Shadow Constellations, both in various personal structures and in group work

On a psychological level, Shadow Constellations allows us to identify and work with the underlying forces that affect and manage the client-facilitator/therapist relationship.
It brings a deep systemic understanding of psychological dynamics such as transference, counter transference , projective identification, and projections in general. Developing a systemic awareness to these, enables therapists to minimize empathic failures and supports turning them into breakthroughs.
On a more general professional level, it allows us to develop greater empathy, powerful gentleness and the ability to work with a broader range of issues and people.
On an emotional level, Shadow Constellations help us better understand hidden client dynamics—transforming triggers in both life and clinical work into empowering healing opportunities along the path of individuation.
They allow our clients and ourselves to reintegrate and own difficult emotions, experiences and positive qualities.
On a body level, they help us access layers of memory stored in the body, including shame, disgust, exclusion, and trauma.
On an intergenerational level, it allows us to identify, reconnect and heal the sometimes forgotten sources of the Shadow, the traumas of our ancestors, which are the cause of much of our clients’ suffering.
Course Content
You are welcome to join this professional training that will teach you how to skillfully bring the healing power of Shadow Constellations into your work.
We will cover the necessary theory and practice, so that you feel comfortable applying these useful tools and perspectives to the work you do with yourself and with your clients and students.
The topics in the training were selected from the core topics most relevant to any therapist or facilitator. The aim is to give you a wide range of practical tools and perspectives to enhance your personal wholeness, leading to enhanced therapeutic and facilitating skills and business growth.
Each lesson focuses on a specific topic and includes practical theory, an experiential practice, time for sharing and questions and either a Shadow Constellations group session or a demo followed by practicing in pairs and small groups.
The topics covered will include:
♦ Day 1
Lesson 1 – Foundations of Shadow Work
Introducing C.G. Jung, the “father” of modern Shadow Work, understanding the essence of the Shadow and how it affects all relaltionships and every meaningful aspect of our personal and professional lives. We will start our journey into the Shadow realms, identifying Shadows by their projection and understanding the main archetypes, background and contexts of Shadow Constellations.
Lesson 2 – Foundations of Family Constellations and Ancestral Healing
Introducing Bert Hellinger, founder of Family Constellations, the Orders of Love, intergenerational healing, phenomenology and a systemic approach which form an important part of Shadow Constellations.
♦ Day 2
Lesson 3 & 4 – Shadows in the clinic (A double lesson)
Whose Shadows affect our relationships with our clients and students? Both theirs and ours.
In this day we will learn a novel way of viewing and understanding client-practitioner relationships from a systemic & Shadow perspective.
We will learn at the 6 categories of Shadow triggering, a Shadow Constellations process to help us turn triggering into a deep healing Shadow integration, identify the many ways that Shadows show themselves and affect our delicate and multi-layered relationships with our clients and students.
♦ Day 3
Lesson 5 – Cultural and collective Shadows
These are Shadows that operate on the level of the collective and the culture. They lie below our individual and family Shadows, affecting us in ways are harder to identify from within the culture. We will learn to identify their presence and how to relate and work with our cultural history in order to gain clarity and distinction, without losing our sense of belonging to it.

♦ Day 4
Lesson 6 – Golden Shadows & our business success
Golden Shadows what we consider good or even great that we have disconnected from.
They are related to admiration, envy and jealousy. They also play a major role in attraction, falling in love and in romantic/erotic transference and countertransference.
Understanding and integrating with our Golden Shadows makes us distinctly safer space holders at the same time as it makes us more whole, expansive and rich.
Lesson 7 – Shadows of helplessness and the Drama/Trauma triangle
Our Shadows of helplessness are what makes us fall over and over again into the Drama/Trauma Triangle – To repeatedly and unconsciously be captured by the Savior, Victim, Perpetrator (and also the silent accomplice) roles.
Our own disowned helplessness is what makes us give up on a client because we can’t help them when we actually can, or try to change them and take them out of their helplessness (to name just two of the common dynamics which eventually cause great damage).
In this lesson We will look at a variety of approaches and practical ways to address helplessness in ourselves and our clients.
♦ Day 5
Lesson 8 – Shadows of aggression and vulnerability
Here we will learn to be more in touch with holding power and taking space, with balancing our vulnerability and aggression so that they become supports rather than a barrier to our development and realization in the world.
This work increases our tolerance for clients and dynamics which we feel are too vulnerable or too aggressive which is often much needed when working with traumatized clients and especially clients suffering from complex trauma.
Lesson 9 – Shadows of sexuality and safe work with sexual trauma in the field
In this lesson we will explore different ways of identifying various aspects of sexuality that went into the Shadow, personally and culturally. We will learn how to sense the presence of sexual trauma in the field and develop a higher sensitivity in working with it.
We will learn to integrate with our own Sexuality in the Shadow in order to enhance safety and to manage what may triggers us due to our personal and family sexual history.
♦ Day 6
Lesson 10 – Shadows of death and farewell
In our final lesson we will look at one of the biggest Shadows of the western culture, how it affects not only our response to someone dying but to endings in general (romantic, professional and others).
We will learn to identify the signs of Death in the Shadow (or in the persona) of ourselves and clients.
Finally, we will go through a unique ceremony to expand our capacity to be in the presence of Death and our relationship with it.

An Advanced integration Journey
Both Family Constellations and Shadow work access the deepest layers of our being. This training can be intense and requires resilience. Because of its experiential nature, challenging material or dynamics may surface during or shortly after the course, as part of your integration process.
While we do our best to hold a safe and trauma-aware space, this is an advanced learning group about healing and not a personal (or group) therapy. Personal content and traumas may be touched. It requires maturity and openness as well as resources and some time to integrate well.
We suggest the following to make this a healing and safe integration journey on both professional and personal level:
Before the training:
- Filling the application questionnaire sincerely and consciously.
- Having a support net in place (therapy/supervision/other forms of support).
- Do not take the training at the moment if you are dealing with any of the following:
- a personal/psychological/mental crisis (A crisis, unlike a challenge, requires most/all of our resources).
- Suicidal ideations
- Personality disorders
During the training, please be aware that
- Doing Shadow Work means that you will be faced with some of you unconscious patterns, projections, transferences and your part in various interpersonal dynamics.
- Some of these unconscious/Shadow dynamics may play out between participants and also with the teacher or assistants. Such dynamics may be used as live teaching material. Please state explicitly if you prefer not to have them used that way.
- The content includes some highly nuanced, socially challenging and less spoken of phenomena so that you can learn to identify it in yourself and your client-facilitator dynamics.
- Holding a safe enough space in edge work is a joint process, led by the teacher and assistants and requires the participants’ involvement. Participants are responsible for their own needs and to communicate them to the team.
- Please feel invited to communicate with myself or the assistants whenever you feel challenged by the content, the practices or the interpersonal dynamics, so that we can adjust the teaching as well as support and guide you accordingly.
It was a beautiful 5 days where I understood my hidden shadow and saw how I was operating through it in many areas of my life.
I was getting triggered but unaware where it was coming from.
It is a big shift for me in terms of spiritual growth as I’ve met my golden shadow and I am connecting with her everyday to be my divine self🥰

Certification
This training is recognized as a part of the certification program in “The Constellation Path – International Institute for the Study of Systemic Constellations”.
In order to complete the full certification program, you will need to complete in a satisfactory way, five to seven training modules facilitated by the institute certified trainers. For details, please visit The Constellation Path webpage.
For this training module to be recognized for the certification program, you will need to have attended at least eight lessons and participated in a satisfactory way.
Participants who fullfil all requirements, will receive a certification of attendance.
Completion of this training does not grant certification as a Shadow Constellations Facilitator.

About the Teacher
Nir Esterman (M.Sc.) is an international teacher facilitator, trainer, and therapist specializing in Family and Systemic Constellations, Embodied Shadow Work, and body-based healing approaches.
He is the developer of the Shadow Constellations approach and leads workshops, professional trainings, and offers supervision for therapists, facilitators, coaches, and practitioners around the world, both online and in person.
Nir has a background in body-oriented therapy and trauma work, and holds a Master’s in Science Teaching and a Bachelor’s in Bioinformatics.
He is on the faculty of the Constellation Way School of Systemic Constellations, the virtual Trauma University, and the Embodiment Facilitator Course in Russia, bringing depth, compassion, and embodied presence to his teaching and practice.
